Laytonsville Lions Club

Community Events

Serving the community is an important part of our club. We sponsor a number of community orientated events that are intended to help make everyone in the Laytonsville area feel like they're right at home in Laytonsville.  Regardless of where you live in the area, you're welcome join in our fun, family orientated events. All of our community events are free and open to the public.

Keep up with the Lions!  Four to six times a year the club puts out an email of upcoming community events, community services and fund raisers. If you would like to be included in our Laytonsville Lions Club email distribution list send an email to subscribe to whats-up@www.laytonsvillelions.org.   To protect you from junk email (a.k.a. SPAM) we won't provide your email address to anyone outside the Lions Club.

Holiday Christmas Show

Members of the community are invited to the free Holiday Christmas Show. The 2005 show will feature a performance by the Blue Sky Puppet Theater of "Santa's Present". A beatiful stroy about the spirit of giving. A present from Santa of a strange puzzle sends Rufus on a journey that eventually helps him overcome his problems with shelfishness and to confront his own fears in order to change. The Audience aids Rufus in solving the puzzel of the Christmans Gift. This is wonderful show that is perfect for audiences of all ages.

The guy in the red suit will be stopping in for a visit and talk with every child.  Everyone is invited to enjoy hot cider, hot chocolate and goodies after the show.

The 2005 Holiday / Christmas Show will be on Wednesday, December 14th at 7pm in the multipurpose room of Laytonsville Elementary.

Community Parade & Spring Festival

The community parade is our largest community event. The Lion's club teams up the Laytonsville Elementary PTA to  present the community parade and the school's Spring Festival on a Saturday in late May.  For the parade we close the town down so that every child and civic organization in the community can march down our main street to the applause of family and friends.  Immediately after the parade, the School's Spring Festival kicks off with games, prizes and a silent auction fundraiser. The Laytonsville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary joins in on the festival, providing an outdoor grilled lunch for everyone.

Look for the Lion's Club District 22-c Mobil Vision and Hearing Screening Bus at the festival.  It's Free!

The 2004 community parade and spring festival schedule will be announced in March of 2004.

Parking - The celebration is going to large enough to close Rt 108 for a period of time.  Since 108 is going to be closed, access will not be available to and from the school parking lot and the field adjacent to the firehouse.  If you park in one of these locations before 11am, plan on leaving your car there until after 1 pm.  Parking will be available in the shopping center parking lot, in the grass behind the bank, and at St. Paul Church.

If you would like to get involved in planning for, participating in, or just getting more information on the parade, send an email to: parade@www.laytonsvillelions.org
